About Me
Gabe Gurley, the 2029 Llano Quarterback, hails from a proud Native American heritage, being 1/8 Chickasaw/Choctaw. Born in Ada, Oklahoma at Chickasaw Nation Hospital, Gabe's family tree traces back to his great grandmother, Amy Heck (Harris maiden), who was 100% Chickasaw/Choctaw.

Gabe's mother, Jennifer Gurley (Heck maiden), continues this legacy with her 1/4 Chickasaw/Choctaw heritage. A skilled athlete herself, she excelled in slow pitch softball, fast pitch softball, basketball, and track at Stonewall High School, achieving all-state honors in both softball and basketball. Although colleges showed interest in her talents, she chose a path in nursing and is now a dedicated Registered Nurse.

The athletic lineage doesn't stop there—Gabe's grandfather, Randy Heck, was a celebrated athlete, achieving all-state recognition as a running back at Coalgate High School in Coalgate, Oklahoma. He also made a mark in baseball and track. Despite his passing a few years ago, his legacy lives on, with his influence and guidance still shaping Gabe's football journey.

On the non-native side of the family, the Native American lineage began with Gabe's great grandmother, Jennifer Gurley's mom, Shonda Denson (Heck) (Wellington maiden). Shonda's father, John Eddie Wellington, was a prominent high school football coach at Coalgate and a remarkable athlete himself. He coached for over 25 years and remains actively involved, providing insights and guidance to Gabe, particularly on technique.
